the Drake and Millie situation? why is this being allowed to happen. I know it happens all over the world but here – right in the public eye it’s happening and nobody is thinking anything of it??? Or are turning a blind fucking eye??
The weirdest fucking thing about this, is that she LOOKS 14. She looks young as fuck. She doesn’t look in any way adult or womanly or attractive.
Some girls look 25 at 14, but she isn’t one of them.
More over, she is 14, and anyone who’s over 20 should be pretty annoyed in general by teenage girls – I legitimately have no idea why someone of his age, wealth, fame, etc would have any interest in being friends with a 14 year old girl except one reason
How much longer until the utopic Solarpunk future where Capitalism is dead and we all live in ecologically sustainable high-tech forest cities? Asking for a friend.
Until we make those ecologically sustainable high-tech forest cities ourselves. It’s going to take a lot of us to do it though, so best to spread the word (and gather native tree seeds).
And, like, get started now. Then our “weirdo houses” will be the only thing functioning when everything falls apart!
The only reason why we don’t live in a solarpunk world right now is because no one has bothered to make it yet.
We’ll have to make it ourselves, and we’ll have to help each other make it. That’s why it is solarpunk.

This is so great
Oh thank goodness for this. I just found out the town I’m moving to has a farmer’s market.
Here’s a thought, maybe people’s growing irreverence for 9/11 is because it was a long time ago and younger generations weren’t as affected by it, or maybe they are so sick of the way it has been basically commercialised by politicians and used as a device to justify incalculable pain and they are tired of it being cynically trotted out every year and told to never forget while every year they are also told to all but ignore mass shootings and US humanitarian crimes.
And like, I dunno, maybe it isn’t about disrespecting those who died but refusing, for any number of reasons, to be a part of the governmental hallmark industry that has built up around it.
I take students to see the 9/11 memorial all the time. More and more of the students I get were either so young or not even born yet.
And every time, I ask them, what do you think? What are you feeling? And many of them are hesitant to respond so I’ll prompt, “Was it sad? Was it boring?” And as soon as they know I’m not gonna judge them for it, 100% of the time, they respond, “I feel bad that I don’t feel as moved by it as you. You cried when you told us about it and I get that it was such a horrible day and so many people died, but I can’t really think of what life was like before or just after that time.”
That really struck me the first time I heard it because these kids really don’t remember a time when things were so carefree and relatively quiet. Little to no security screenings. Almost zero school shootings. Kids stayed outside by themselves until the street lamps came on.
Because they grew up in a post-9/11 society, all they’ve ever known is mass violence and distrust of everything. Kids expect a plane to crash into a building, a truck bomb to go off at a big event, a student shooting up a school. And they’ve just got to deal with it and keep moving on or they won’t survive.
In case you weren’t aware- this is what snapdragon flowers look like when they die!
When the flower’s seed pod dies, the flower’s head resembles a miniature human skull. Ancient cultures once thought Snapdragon Flowers held supernatural powers, and it was considered good luck to carry one around with you. Another myth is that the Snapdragon Flowers give lifelong beauty and youthfulness to any woman who consumes them. And no I have not eaten one snapdragon head. I promise😛
I don’t know why TV shows and movies (all genres pitched toward all target demographics) keep trying to have us believe that two brown parents with 4C hair will pop out a light skinned daughter with loose waves down her back. But the son, oh he looks like the parents.
That’s basically misogynoir but I’m sleep.
We talk about colorism but we don’t *really* talk about our faves, like our beloved Black sitcoms where a lot of the Black female characters were in fact played by bi-racial women:
Denise Huxtable (you could argue Sondra too since she’s Creole and clearly full of European genes) Whitley Gilbert Hillary Banks the second Claire on My Wife and Kids (it really smacks when an original actress is replaced by a much lighter one as in this case and the second Aunt Viv) Joan Carol Clayton (Tracee Ellis Ross is now playing a bi-racial woman on Black-ish, so…progress?) Melanie Barnett one (or both, IDK about Essence Atkins) of the sisters on Half & Half
Just like every other part of the entertainment industry, Black sitcoms had a lot fewer dark skinned women compared to light skinned women. For every Pam James being made fun of there were three other Gina Paynes being pushed to the front as the “pretty” one.
The sitcom is basically dead, but looking at this new crop of young Hollywood talent, I can’t find any brownskinned girls being pushed to the front of the line. Letitia Wright is primed to have a Moment, but every trailer I see has Alexandra Shipp, Amandla Stenberg, Zoe Kravtiz, or Tessa Thompson in the lead.
Are there any young brown actresses getting good parts right now? I can’t think of any at the moment…
I’m glad someone brought her up.
Lupita Nyong’o won an Academy Award in 2013 at the age of 30. It’s a bit old for an “ingenue” but she looks so young and was so new to Hollywood, that’s the image she was given, which is great. Ingenues have their choice of roles (think current It Girl Saoirse Ronan) and they’re always being handed great scripts.
What have you seen Lupita in since 2013 other than Black Panther? I saw Queen of Katwe. She did Broadway, but her movie career has consisted of one lead, one supporting, and some voice roles after winning an Academy Award and being the fashion darling of every red carpet. In five years, she’s only had one lead role in a movie.
On the other side, Tessa Thompson was in five movies just this year. Alexandra Shipp – three. Zoe Kravitz – three. Amandla Stenberg has the lead role in three movies this year.
They really tried to use lupita as an example
The My Wife & Kids girl really threw me for a loop they didn’t even try to make her look like the first girl.
I remember getting an issue of jet magazine that showed Jennifer freeman on the cover when they replaced her for jazz raycole. They literally used an old publicity picture of the cast and placed Jennifer’s face on top of Jazz’s. They didn’t even bother to take new pictures!
