I like how OP doesn’t see the contradiction in the fact that Princess Peach is the ONLY example they have to answer these complaints.
This is literally an example of her being the exception who proves the rule.
There’s actually a decent amount of female video game characters for each category, I think this was just supposed to be a Peach appreciation post. She is the queen of video games, after all. However, despite the good examples that Peach, Amaterasu (Okami), Rosalyn (Okage), Rose (The Legend of Dragoon), Samus (Metroid), Midna (LoZ: Twilight Princess), Cream the Rabbit (Sonic the Hedgehog), Red (Transistor), Claudia (Assassin’s Creed II & Brotherhood), and a great deal of other female video game characters set, the number of games that don’t have characters like them far outweigh the number of those that do. That’s an issue in the gaming industry, but hopefully it won’t be a trend for that much longer.
Honestly, at this point we should be really starting to call out that lack of PoC in video games, because in all the games that I’ve played, the characters are more likely to be non human than black. Lucian and Karma from League of Legends and most of the characters from the first 4 Assassin’s Creed games (plus a few other in later games, after they decided to cash in on that white male protagonist money and completely forsake the modern day timeline) are the only PoC video game characters that I can think of at this point (It’s 10 pm and I started working at 4:15 this morning, my brain is fried).
That’s not to say that we shouldn’t keep calling out sexism in video games, but… I mean , hey, while we’re at it, let’s talk about the racial issues as well. And LGBT, and disability, and everything else I can’t think of because I’m too tired.
